Job Description

The Emergency project Peace and Reconciliation project coordinator is responsible in coordinating and facilitating Peace and Reconciliation process between Gedeo and Guji zone woreda communities that have been affected by the two community conflicts. The coordinator liaises with all relevant stakeholders including local government authority, NGOs and local community leaders during woreda and community level peace and reconciliation facilitation process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides basic training on Peace and Reconciliation to field based staff &government office relevant staff
  • Ensures Peace and Reconciliation trainings are cascaded to community level in the project areas
  • Facilitates community representatives selection process for community level reconciliation discussion
  • Facilitates basic Peace and Reconciliation concept trainings to the selected community representatives in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders
  • Facilitates community meeting and discussions between the two communities reconciliation related issues
  • Follow up on daily basis the progress of Peace & Recompilation progress in the two communities
  • Update the progress of Peace and Reconciliation process progress to your immediate supervisor and ECC-SDCO Hawassa Director
  • Liaise with other ECC-SDCO Emergency project staff
  • Prepares monthly based formal progress report of Peace and Reconciliation progress in the two communities
  • Maintains all documents and records related with Peace and Reconciliation process
  • Performs other related tasks as required.

Job Requirement

Educational Qualification & Experience

  • BA/BSc Degree in social sciences
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience with NGOs out of which at least 2 years at senior position

Skills Specific to the Post

  • Excellent in English languages, writing and communications skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in fan Oromo language
  • Experience facilitating, or leading  groups of adults

Age : 35-50
