The Ethiopian Economic Association (EEA)

About Us

The Ethiopian Economic Association (EEA) is a non-profit making, non-political and non-religious professional Association. Its principal objective is promoting the discipline of the Economics profession and contributes to the advancement of the Ethiopian Economy through research, public dialogue, capacity building and dissemination of socio-economic researches and discourse. In line with this objective, EEA has established its research wing, the Ethiopian Economic Policy Research Institute (EEPRI), in 2000 to advance and promote EEA’s objectives.

During the past decade, however, EEA particularly its research wing EEPRI has faced serious challenges in discharging its responsibilities. External factors particularly the previous Civil Society Organization (CSO) law coupled with internal problems have adversely affected EEA’s research and core activities. This calls for re-visiting the research engagement modalities, and refocus on building networking and partnership with relevant stakeholders, promoting emerging and frontier issues in economics, enhancing virtual and social media modalities to communicate the Association’s activities and more importantly designing a systematic fund raising strategy. In order to realize such responsibilities in a more efficient and effective manner, the EEA Executive Committee (EC) has undertaken a study on restructuring EEPRI.
